MAN MUST RISE ABOVE THE EARTH, TO THE TOP OF THE ATMOSPHERE AND BEYOND, FOR ONLY THUS WILL HE FULLY UNDERSTAND THE WORLD IN WHICH HE LIVES

Roberto is a TRI / TRE expert and Captain who has flown many types around the world, including the most recent Qatar Airways and Easyjet. He is an experienced consultant who provides training in resilience and human factors in safety-critical areas.
Pleased to meet you, I’m Capt. Roberto Liotta, creator of the RL’s Resilience Academy.
I was born in Turin, Italy, and started flying in 1980, with my first job as an instructor in 1982 with SIAI MARCHETTI, in Libya, training Cadets of the Libyan Air Force, in the classroom and in the flight simulator.
I flew to the USA where I qualified as a CPL FAA CPL Single Engine Flight Instructor. I then flew with commercial airlines such as Meridiana on DC 9 becoming Commander in 1993.
As Commander I then flew on Boeing 747-200 Cargo and Passengers with Ocean Airlines, Phuket Air and Hellenic Imperial, Haj operation.
With Saudi Arabian Airlines I obtained the transition to the A320 in Airbus Toulouse in 2009 and I flew with Saudia the “start up” of the new fleet based in Jeddah.
In 2011 I joined JetStar Asia (Qantas group) based in Singapore, then in 2013 Qatar Airways as a full-time Instructor and Examiner on A320 – A330 / 350 MMF, where I qualified as an EBT Instructor at LMQ Ltd. with full EBT Enhanced program until joining EasyJet in 2018 as a full-time Consultant EBT Examiner and Instructor for the opening of the new easyJet / CAE training center based in Malpensa.
In 1989 I conceived and organized, involving some colleagues, the first congress of Pilots in view of the European Deregulation called “Pilot’s 92” supported by Alisarda, Airbus, Boeing, Honeywell, with the participation of many of the major Operators of that time. In 1993 I attended the JAR OPS implementation meeting in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands.
With Meridiana I held the position on the Maintenance Reliability Control Board.
I have been a member of the Technical Committee within the main pilot unions in Italy for more than 10 years, and in Phuket Air held the position of safety officer.
Married twice, I have 3 children, 2 adult males, Emanuele and Daniele, and a young daughter born in 2018, Lea. My passions are tennis, sailing, kitesurfing, alpine skiing, water skiing (retired instructor), scuba diving.
I have always placed the “Person” at the center in all human activities. I have often found the inadequacy of procedures or philosophies applied to operational aspects.
Many speak of “Human Factor” but too often there is no vision on “how” to apply this matter to daily operations. Many theories, even interesting in the classroom …. but then not very applicable.
I finally decided to found my Academy, giving it my name and surname, to characterize it with all the experience accumulated in the course of my life, 40 years of flight, but not only. The years as a CONI Sports Manager, for example, with the Italian Nautical Ski Federation and the Federated Disabled.
The “RL’s Resilience Academy” expresses the most current response to the need to improve the quality of human activities in terms of performance, but above all of Safety.
The drastic reduction of personal conflicts in reality of group work, but also of a greater awareness in self-knowledge, are the keys to greater Safety of Operations and a greater Quality of Life.
